Multi-purpose or all in one grooming tools can be really convenient and are often a lot cheaper than say buying three or four separate products. The Panasonic ER224S is a perfect example for combining several features necessary for grooming including the ability to trim a mustache, beard, sideburns, as well as cleaning up around the neck area.

One of the things I really like about the Panasonic ER224S right off the bat is the ability to use it wet or dry. You can trim your beard while taking a shower or clean up the neck area prior to jumping in the shower.
Another feature that is nice is the multiple settings. There are 14 cutting length settings ranging from .o4 to .76 inches. I like the range but if you’re planning to use this for cutting hair as well as beard trimming, you are somewhat limited.
As far as the quality and durability of the Panasonic ER224S, the blades are stainless steel, providing a precision cut with sensitivity in mind. The fast action blades are hypoallergenic reducing razor burn or skin irritation.
The Panasonic ER224S does not come with a standalone cleaning and charging station, not that you would expect that from a beard trimmer. But being that it can be fully immersed in water will make it easy to clean. It also comes with oil for the blade, cleaning brush, and even a replacement blade.
For detailing facial hair or cutting the neck line, the Panasonic ER224S comes with a pop-up detail trimmer. This is great for getting sideburns or a goatee just right along with the neckline.
On an 8 hour full charge, the ER224S operates for 70 minutes. It can also be used cordless or corded which is another nice feature if you forget to charge it.
There are no major bells and whistles to speak of. There is no fancy LED or LCD display’s to mention, no worldwide dual voltage adaptor or anything else that puts this product over the edge. It’s simply a well designed beard and hair trimmer with the features you need to get the job done.

As for complaints, some guys felt the design is flawed and it could have been built better. Another complaint was the length settings don’t allow for trimming longer hair beyond an inch. As the setting only goes to .76 inches, you will be somewhat limited if you want to give yourself a haircut but leave hair longer than an inch.
As far as the design and durability, it is made out of plastic. However, if you take proper care and don’t drop it from 5 feet up onto a hard floor, it will last a long time. The ergonomic design makes it easy and comfortable to hold.
