The Philips Norelco PT730 features a cordless (or with cord) razor with dual precision shaving. It’s designed to shave long hairs as well as short thick stubbles.
The heads are flexible and adjust automatically to the contours of your face. The Philips Norelco PT730 features a patented “Super Lift and Cut” dual blade action which lifts the hair providing a closer and more comfortable shave.
There’s also a pop-up trimmer which is nice for grooming and trimming sideburns, mustaches, or a beard.
Philips Norelco PT730 Convenient Features
The Philips Norelco PT730 claims to be fully washable and also comes with a cleaning brush for a more effective cleaning. However, I checked the Philips Norelco website specifications for this shaver and though you can clean it with water, it isn’t designed to be used as a wet-dry shaver. This is important for guys like me with sensitive skin and who are prone to razor burn.
One thing I like about this shaver which is a feature most electric shaver’s offer today is the ability to use with a cord or go cordless. I like the ability to shave on the go when necessary.
The Philips Norelco PT730 has some additional features that make it a great traveling shaver. Not only does it come with a protective cap for the blades, it has a “worldwide voltage function” so you can adjust it to 100 to 240 volts AC which is necessary if you plant to travel overseas.
A final thing I should mention, the blades need to be replaced once a year. For some this is a nuisance, but when you think of the money you save over a traditional razor, it’s worth it.
Battery Life
It takes 8 hours to fully charge the Philips Norelco PT730 which provides 40 minutes of cordless shave time. That’s equivalent to roughly two weeks for me. There’s also a cool 3 minute quick charge feature which is great if you forgot to charge the night before which is good for one shave.
A final feature regarding battery life is an LED indicator which lets you know when the battery is running low and needs to be recharged.
Personally, I would rate the battery life as fairly good. There are other shavers out there that provide a 50 minute (and more) shave time battery life, but unless you are a gorilla, you should be fine with a 40 minute shave time capacity.
What’s in The Box?
The Philips Norelco PT730 comes with the cordless razor of course, a power cord, the cool protective cap, a brush for cleaning and user manual.
It also comes with a 45 day money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the shave, don’t like the battery life, or for any reason. Additionally, there is a full 2-year warranty that protects against malfunction. Always read the warranty to check for any fine print or types of damage that is not covered!
What other Guy’s are Saying about the Philips Norelco PT730
Based on 378 customer reviews from guys who have purchased this, there is an average rating of 4.3 stars out of 5 stars. Overall, most guys were extremely satisfied with their purchase. However, there were a few common complaints.
Two of the common complaints were that the motor is not very strong. The other complaint is that it doesn’t give a super close shave for guys with thick stubble. This is of course attributed to the slower speed of the motor.
Several guys said that it started out not shaving so well but after a couple of days it seemed to break in and they are satisfied.
My recommendation—if you have thick stubble you may want to consider a more powerful razor. Of course, you can always purchase it, try it for a week and then return it if you are not satisfied.
Final Thought on the Philips Norelco PT730
While it won’t make my list of top 5 best electric shavers, overall I think the Philips Norelco PT730 gives you quite a bit of bang for your buck. At just under $50.oo and with an average rating of 4.3 out of 5, it’s not a bad choice.
I will say this, if you have sensitive skin, are prone to razor burn, or have exceptionally thick stubble, this may not be the right fit for you. But hey, like I said, you can buy it and try it for a week and then return it if you’re not satisfied.
