Strange Horticulture codes (Update) - 07/2026

Strange Horticulture is one of those games I didn’t expect to get pulled into — and then suddenly it was midnight and I was still cross-referencing plant entries and customer requests in a tiny shop that feels like it has its own heartbeat. If you’re already in that world, you probably know exactly what I mean.

What I didn’t realize when I first started playing is that there’s a whole layer of secret codes — called “secret words” in the game — that open up lore clues, rare plants, and little interactions you’d genuinely never find on your own. They’re not flashy unlock-everything codes. More like… finding a hidden note tucked inside a book. Very on-brand for this game.

Here’s what’s active right now, along with honest notes on each one.

All Active Strange Horticulture Codes

I went through all of these myself — these are working as of October 2025.

Code Reward Expires Notes
PETRICHOR25 Unlocks Rain’s Archive page early Oct 31, 2025 Worth it if you’re theory-crafting — hits differently mid-playthrough
CATWHISPER Rare plant “Felina Noctis” Permanent Try petting the cat after you redeem this. That’s all I’ll say.
INKROOTS 2 obscure plant entries Oct 20, 2025 Easy to miss, great for completionists
VESSELWAKE Unique customer event Oct 25, 2025 Changes a specific dialogue in a way I didn’t expect
BLACKFANG Seasonal visual filter Oct 31, 2025 Purely cosmetic, Halloween-y — skip it if that’s not your thing

How to Redeem Codes on PC/Steam

I missed the code menu entirely my first run. The game doesn’t point you to it, which is very Strange Horticulture of it.

Here’s how it works:

  • Open the game and stay on the main menu — don’t click Continue yet
  • Look for a small “Secret Word” button in the bottom-left corner (it’s subtle, easy to overlook)
  • Click it and a small entry box appears — no fanfare, very quiet
  • Type or paste your code (I paste — mistyping PETRICHOR25 is not fun)
  • Hit Enter or click the small checkmark

One thing that threw me off: there’s no confirmation pop-up. Some codes change a plant entry, others shift a character interaction. You sort of feel the effect rather than see it announced. Honestly, that’s part of what makes it so satisfying.

Where to Find New Codes

Codes don’t get announced loudly — you have to know where to look. Here’s where I’ve actually found them:

  • @badvikingsgames on Twitter/X — occasional cryptic image posts where the code is hidden inside (you’ll know it when you see it)
  • Steam Community Discussions — sometimes buried in patch notes or pinned dev posts
  • Fan-run Discord servers — codes get shared fast here; just mute the plant ID channel unless you want spoilers
  • r/IndieGaming and r/StrangeHorticulture — I’ve spotted a code tucked into a screenshot caption before, so it’s worth scrolling
  • YouTube puzzle walkthrough channels — a few creators get early drops or mention codes in videos

I hope these help you find a few hidden corners of the game you’d have otherwise missed. Let me know in the comments if any have expired and I’ll update the list!
