The Exerpeutic 1000XL claims to provide you with a quality experience at an affordable price. There are a number of elliptical trainers available on the market for those that don’t want to spend a small fortune on their fitness equipment. To get the cheaper price you usually find they have less features and are not as well made as the higher priced ones. This can cause issues with how long the equipment will last especially when cheaper materials are used in the construction. But, not all these more affordable elliptical trainers are like this, some mange to combine affordability with an acceptable level of quality. So, is the Exerpeutic 1000 XL one of them?

The Pros
Cost: This is of course one of the big attractions of this piece of exercise equipment The retail price is $299.99 but is available at a discount from this price when you shop around for it online. It is priced just above the cheapest elliptical trainers available like the Body Rider BRD2000. Even so, it’s price is much less than the average cost of the trainers, which can cost hundreds or over a $1000. At this sort of price this machine will be affordable for most people and only those on a very tight budget will find this outside of their acceptable price range.
Visual Display: The quality and size of LCD displays vary widely from model to model. There are still fitness machines that don’t include screens at all. But this is now quite rare as the manufacturers realize that many exercisers find this a very useful feature.
However, some include machines that are so small you can’t read them properly when you are exercising. This is annoying to say the least when you are exercising and want to know how you are doing. Fortunately, the Exerpeutic 1000XL LCD display screen is around the same size as more expensive models, making it relaively easy to read when you are training.
Stable: When buying a cheaper elliptical trainer like this one, you can find that they aren’t that stable. This is because the cheap price is due to cheap parts and low quality manufacturing techniques. This makes the equipment unstable when being used. This is annoying and can result in a very challenging workout at the very least as you fight the problems caused by this instability. Parts can break and other damage can also occur – nobody wants this to happen.
Even though this machine is not up to the standard of the higher priced elliptical trainers, for the price it does a pretty good job. It feels sturdy even when you are doing tough workouts which can be hard on any machine. You won’t b e concerned by wobbling or the machine around shifting while you are training, so you can stay focused on getting fit.
Smoothness: Many of elliptical trainers in this price range, as mentioned above, have not been made as well as they could be, and this can result in issues on how the parts move. It can result in a jerkiness of movement as you train which can range from being annoying to making it impossible to use the trainer. From our research the 1000XL is smooth through all the movement of your exercising. This means you are not distracted while working out and is also able to be used by anyone who may have issues with the joints in their legs that could not endure a jerky or bumpy motion
The Cons
Assembly: This can be something that can be overlooked when you are buying a piece of fitness equipment. There is usually some form of assembly required whatever piece of equipment you buy. It can be a very difficult process for even those who are good at this type of thing when the process and instructions haven’t been properly thought through by the manufacturer.
Unfortunately the Exerpeutic 1000XL is one of those machines where not enough thought has been put into the assembly process. This results in an assembly process that takes up to 3 hours due to the instructions being so poorly written they confuse rather than help. Also, the tools included don’t really help. This all means you are going to have a frustrating time putting it to together and will have to put aside a fair bit of quiet time to put it together so you can use it. This is poor as most people want to be trying out their new purchase as soon as they can.
Pedals: The design of the pedals is such that your feet slide forward while you are using them. This is irritating. You are probably are not going to be able to use this machine barefoot due to this design. This really should be looked at by the manufacturer. If you don’t wear shoes you will find it very uncomfortable and it will become very distracting. Even when wearing shoes it feels strange to say the least.
Batteries Required: The LCD display requires batteries to work. If they run out during a workout it can be aggravating. Especially if you don’t have any batteries on hand to replace them. You will have to continue your workout without stats.
Should You Buy The Exerpeutic 1000XL Elliptical Trainer?
For its price the Exerpeutic 1000XL is quite a good machine. You get a fairly stable machine with a smooth ride which is very good for this price range. If you are on a tight budget this machine may well be worth a try, even though it may not last as long as more expensive models. The issues with the assembly and the pedals must also be considered. You need to keep them in mind when looking to buy this machine.
