Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti Frozen Drink Machine Review

Some people love to go to parties, and some people love to throw them. Party hosts and hostesses are a special breed of masochists. Not only do they have to look nice and smile a lot, they have to coordinate the entire service: house-cleaning, food-prepping, drink-mixing, music-mixing, drunkenness-monitoring. It can cause a lot of stress, but the elation of throwing a successful party is worth it. It’s just a shame you can’t enjoy the party more.

Mixed drinks are one thing, but frozen drinks are another. Everyone can mix their own drink, but running a frozen margarita machine seems a bit more complicated and it scares people off. But I think that once you see the Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti in action, you’ll be so entertained and so pleased that you’ll plan a party immediately just to show the thing off. It’s really easy to use, but it’s so much fun to watch. Plus you end up with 24 ounces each of three different frozen drinks. That’s a lot of drink. But don’t worry – your friends will be eager to help you get rid of all that drink.

The Three-Ring Circus of Frozen Margarita Makers

The Margaritaville DM3000 (also called the Tahiti) is much more than a drink machine – it’s a spectacle! This is the absolute crème of the Margaritaville crop, and they have designed it specifically to be the perfect party machine. It does a lot of things well, but there are a few features in particular that make this an excellent purchase:

Margaritaville DM3000 Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker
  • Very nice, high-quality appearance and captivating presentation
  • Automatically blends six different types of drinks and can be customized
  • Drink quality is top-notch
  • Fast enough to serve a whole crowd

Clean, attractive design and entertaining operation

The Margaritaville DM3000 wasn’t just made to sit on your kitchen counter. It was made to mingle at parties, and it’s a nice-looking machine. The body is mostly sand-colored plastic with brushed aluminum bands, bamboo pitcher surfaces, chrome trim, and easy-to-read dials. The jars look like glass, but they’re really plastic, for which you will be extremely grateful halfway through the party when people start to serve themselves. The surfaces are smooth and simple to clean, and with each of the pitchers filled with frozen drinks, it’s like a colorful carousel.

But the real treat is watching it run. The ice chute rotates to the first pitcher, shaving ice and blending automatically, and then goes to the next one. Each pitcher can be set to mix a different kind of drink, so blending and shaving times will vary between each one. It’s an amazing little robot, and it’s so fun to watch that everyone will forget that they’re waiting for their drinks!

Six types of customizable drinks

The Margaritaville Tahiti will mix six different types of drinks: margaritas, daiquiris, coladas, mudslides, mojitos, and smoothies. But they’re all just ice and liquid, you say, why does it need six different settings? Well, the consistency of the liquid changes for each one. For example, if you’re making a margarita, there’s no need to blend the liquid before adding the ice, but if you’re making a fruit daiquiri, you need to blend the frozen fruit before you drop the ice in. Mudslides will blend for ice cream, smoothies for fresh fruit. Pre-programmed settings do all of this automagically.

If you’ve got friends who like their drinks with extra ice, you can run a “shave-only” cycle on any of the pitchers. For unusually thick ingredients, you can run “blend-only” until they’re as smooth as you want. Restaurants won’t even do this for you!

Smooth, creamy, high-quality drinks

Crushed ice is a mess. It’s hard to stick a straw down the bottom of a glass filled with crushed ice, and you usually end up getting a piece stuck in the straw. If you’re drinking from the glass, you end up with a mouth of ice to chew (unless you can figure out how to spit out ice gracefully into a napkin).

With a Margaritaville DM3000, the ice is shaved into the thinnest possible slices, creating maximum surface area for cooling with minimal bulk. That’s kind of scientific, and it’s not important. The important part is that your drink will have the same consistency as a slushie coming out of a professional machine: smooth and thick with not a single ice pebble to chew.

Fast and efficient – three pitchers in three minutes

If you’re having a party, you don’t have to worry about a long line forming while you’re slinging blenders everywhere. After you measure out the mix (1 minute), check the settings (10 seconds), and press the button, the machine will blend all three pitchers in fewer than two minutes. Each pitcher is 24 ounces, which is four party-size margaritas or two jumbo-size ones.

For really big parties, put one person on pouring duty while another person measures the mix into the empties. Slide them back onto the machine, and push the button again. The machine will make six full pitchers before you need to refill the ice reservoir.

A big hit with margarita-lovers everywhere

Across the Internet, customers have given the Margaritaville Tahiti 4.5 and 5 out of 5 stars. There are very few complaints, and everyone seems to like different features about it.

  • “Well, all I can tell you is that it was a huge hit. Drinks came out perfect.”
  • “It blends PERFECTLY! I’m really amazed at how well the Tahiti blends frozen fruits and drinks.”
  • “Every time we have used it, the whole crowd has been fascinated by this marvel of engineering. It would be worth the money at twice the price!”
  • “This is definitely the ultimate entertainment machine. For adults, make a mix in one jug, and for children, make a non-alcoholic mix in another jug.”
  • “After buying the DM3000, we could care less about the professional model anymore… this one makes 3 different drinks in a cycle, is fun to watch, and easier to maintain!”

One complaint that popped more than any others is that the machine is really big. And it is – it’s about 20″ on each side. My counter is big enough for it but at the cost of a lot of valuable counter space. Plus I’d really rather not have a drink machine be the focus of my kitchen. If you’re going to use it every day, you’ll have to plan where to put it, but if it’s just a party machine, it’s not so large that storing it somewhere is a problem.

Where can I find it?

It’s a big, fancy machine, but you can find it for less than $500. For a fair price, FREE SHIPPING, and a great return policy, check out Amazon.
