Philips Norelco 1150x SensoTouch 2D Review

You know how you have those old shirts that fit just right and kind of conform to your body? Well, the Philips Norelco 1150x tends to have that same effect on guys. It might be an older model as Norelco has come out with the SensoTouch 3D line, but sometimes newer doesn’t necessarily mean better.

Don’t get me wrong, the 3D line has some great offerings, but the major difference is range of motion on the head and of course the price. For guys looking for a technologically sound shaver but don’t care to dish out that kind of money, the 1150x might be a good fit. Let’s take a closer look at some of the features that make this shaver a top pick for shavers under $100

Philips Norelco 1150x Features

2D technology (gyroflex) allows the head to pivot in a circular motion as well as tilt inward. This allows the head to glide over the skin while contouring to the curvature of your skin. The result is a personalized shave that reduces irritation as less pressure is needed to get that razor like close shave.

The Norelco 1150x uses a dual blade system that features a lift and cut system. The dual precision heads have two slots. One slot shaves normal hairs while the tiny holes work to get even the shortest of hairs.

As many guys like to change the look up now and then and want more diversity from a shaver, the 1150x has a trimmer feature that’s perfect for grooming and trimming a beard, mustache, or sideburns. Speaking of diversity, you can shave in front of the mirror, in the shower, or on the go.

The features that allow for more control over when and how you shave are the aquatic technology, cordless operation, and the quick charge feature.

An “AquaTec” seal allows the 1150x to be used as a wet shaver and can even handle cream or gel without bogging down the head or skipping. The ergonomic design and no slip grip make it easy to use in the shower.

If you’re more of a dry shave kind of guy, that’s okay too. The 1150x provides a nice smooth dry shave and the quick charge feature along with cordless operation means those days you are running behind you can finish shaving on the way to work. Although…this is probably not very safe and could get you a ticket, so don’t do it. Just wanted you to know that you could…but you shouldn’t…unless you’re Chuck Norris, in which case do whatever you want Chuck, I ain’t mad at ya.

This guy doesn’t look so serious…but he does look like he just got lucky thanks to the 1150x…Get lucky, get the 1150x.

Is the Norelco 1150x easy to clean?

Why yes it is Chuck…it actually has a collection chamber which collects hair for less mess. The 1150x does not have a standalone cleaning station like some of the models in the 3D line, but it comes with a brush and can easily be cleaned by running it under water.

Did I mention the 1150x is great for travel? Well it is…it has a travel lock feature to prevent it from accidently going off in your luggage as things get bumped around. Believe me, the last thing you want is something buzzing in your carryon bag as you’re going through a security check, you will get frisked. Getting frisked is no good, use the travel lock.

Another feature that makes it great for travel, and more specifically international travel, is the worldwide voltage system. The 1150x can adjust from 100v to 240v so you can get a nice shave in Texas or Zimbabwe.

The fact that the Philips Norelco 1150x comes with a 2 year warranty and is less than $100 makes me wonder how they are not all sold out. Norelco got it right on this one and the price is unbelievable.

Other features worth noting are the LED display and it comes with a travel pouch. Now let’s check out what other guys are saying about the 1150x.

What Guys are saying about the Philips Norelco 1150x

The 1150x received an average 4 star rating out of a possible 5 based on over 1,700 reviews. Some of the comments made were:

“It gives a very close shave, and it’s quiet and easy to clean”, as well as, “Wow, best electric razor I’ve owned, and it deals with neck hair great.”

I forgot to mention, a full charge can be achieved in an hour providing 40 minutes of shave time. Don’t forget, there’s also a quick charge feature.

Okay, now for the downside…are you kidding me!? There is no downside! Generally I talk about the positives as well as any common complaints. Well, the 1150x is less than $100…I think that about sums it up. You can’t complain about a top shelf shaver at that price…again, unless you are Chuck then you can do whatever you want.

Without the optional beard styler attachment the Norelco 1150x costs $87.99, with the beard styler its $105. Get the slyer; it’s only a few bucks more. You can purchase the 1150x through the following link with 12% off and free shipping included.
