Polaris P955 4-Wheel Drive Robotic Pool Cleaner Review

Robotic pool cleaner is no longer a clumsy waterproof piece of electronic that crawls and turns on the pool floor. Manufacturers now use better technologies to make their robots run faster, clean better, and operate easier.

Take the Polaris P955 for example, a controllable robot with 4-wheel drive technology and motion sensor. It is a high-end robot designed for one purpose, cleaning your pool.

Main Features of Polaris P955

Sophisticated technologies do not always have to be complicated to use. In contrast, they must give understandable interface with which users can control everything hassle-free. The Polaris P955 gives a good example that even a fully-featured robot can be easy to configure.

The robotic pool cleaner is packaged with a stand-alone control panel and a lot of options to control how it behaves in the pool. Control panel is integrated in the caddy.

One unique feature is the “Lift System” option to tell the robot that you want it to come up to the surface. Once activated, the Polaris P955 will make a left turn and continue to do so until you release the button.

Upon release, the robot will move forward. Make sure the robot is oriented towards the direction you want before you let go of the button. Once it is on the side of the pool, lift it up and drain the water before take it to the caddy or for cleaning.

Filter cartridge are accessible from the top. It is also the only robotic pool cleaner in its family that has dirty canister indicator.

All functions are accessible from the control panel including 7-day programmable timer, intensive/high intensity cleaning level, pool shapes, cleaning cycles, and cleaning surfaces. The Polaris P955 comes with a remote control, 70 feet cable, and flow rate of more than 70 GPM.

Customer Reviews

As a start, the Polaris P955 looks like a fancy toy car at a glance. Aesthetic is second to performance indeed, but people also adore things that look good. In terms of cleaning performance, the robot handles small and large debris quite well.

It may take a few runs through the same spot for complete debris removal, but you can always control it manually using the remote.

A lot of cleaning options are good, but the control panel takes a little bit or learning curve to understand all functions you can or cannot change. The cable is not tangle-free, so you may not want to leave the robot unattended for prolong period to avoid electrical issues.
